Nina Ultra Pro Maple Syrup

I picked this up at the same time that I picked up the Orly Metal Chic collection - it helped me use a coupon. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! No, I'd seen SOMEONE swatch it, and it was gorgeous, so I remembered finally to pick it up. Seriously? Go snag this if you don't have it - Sally's seems to have it readily available! It's so glowy.
I used two coats for this - very good coverage, easy to apply.
Lighting was slightly better during this session of swatches, just a bit of sun peeking out! So have a look:
First picture taken inside, artificial light - no flash.

Next two shots are outside under natural very low sunlight.

A final bottle shot; note the loads of pretty shimmer. I think this is the perfect name for this polish.

Orly Glitz

I seem to be on an Orly kick lately, huh? I did mention I've been loving them. When I was looking for the Metal Chic collection, I spied this - and I thought it would make a nice holiday shade to have in my collection. I was right, it's a very rich, packed with what looks like gold and silver shimmer. Looks slightly metallic, lays very well on the nail! I was quite surprised that I really liked this.
I want to say that maybe this is one Ginger had? I can't remember now!
You all know how much I have a love/hate relationship with golds. I do love this one on me, but will probably not pull it out that often, because I just don't wear gold much. But if you love golds, you'll probably want to wear this a lot! The name is cute too, Glitz. Application was perfect, as per usual for my experience of Orly polishes - the only one I think I've struggled with was Goth.  I used two coats here.
I am quite sure I sound like a broken record when I tell you that my lighting was overcast - maybe I should alert you when I have sunshine!
First shot taken inside under artificial light, no flash.

Next two shots are taken outdoors. It even gleams in the gloom. Oooh! Haha, I so easily amuse myself!

In the bottle shot, you can see the shimmer, as well as the swirls of silver.

Avon Mirror Shine Polish

I have a friend of mine who recently started selling Avon; naturally I thought I'd try out their polishes, since I haven't in years. One of the ones she encouraged me to try out was the Mirror Shines, their version of a chrome polish. The shade I wanted was purple - shocking I know! The name of the purple is Polish. How's that for confusing? Haha. At any rate, I couldn't resist doing a quick swipe of it when I first got it, and let me just tell you, this stuff wears like IRON. I had it on for two days! No chipping, at work. It's a miracle.
Of course, it showed off all of my lumps and bumps, so I needed to remedy that. I used my China Glaze Ridge Filler - I should do a review of this stuff, I swear it's my HG ridge filler! It worked like a charm. I let it fully dry - which didn't take long - before I applied Polish, and it seemed to do the trick. I find that this Mirror Shine - aka chrome - is much like the matte polishes in that you have to apply and work quickly with it, as it dries very fast. I ended up using two coats, purely for the purpose of evening out my application. It will show your brushstrokes! However, this is a lovely, vibrant purple, and I'm thoroughly impressed altogether with the formula and staying power, as well as the color. I'm going to need the rest of these!
I almost forgot to mention the brush and the wand - the handle on the outside of the bottle is long, not so much on the inside, but overall, very very easy to use, the brush was a normal size. Did not create any application problems.
I'll stop raving and let you look at the pictures. You'll be able to tell that I swatched this on the same day as my previous posts, completely overcast light. Let's not even mention my cleanup.
All shots taken outdoors, under natural (overcast) light.

If you are all curious about the bottle, this is what it looks like. Pretty neat. It's plastic and lightweight.

And - not so much!

Okay, very quickly, because it's late and I'm exhausted!
I have a few extra posts I'll be publishing in the afternoons, since I've already scheduled posts through my birthday, I'm going to leave those right on schedule.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes! ♥ You know you all rock.
So, here's how things went: The night other night after I posted the "Don't Panic" post, we had a bit of a storm, with a lot of wind. When I got up the next morning, the internet was out. Then, I discovered that there was no dial tone at all - seemed odd! I called the phone company, they told me they did NOT shut me down, they had orders to turn everything off on the 17th. Haha! BUT, they couldn't figure out why my service wasn't on - so they were not able to send a technician out until today! They swore they'd have it fixed by 4:30 PM. Well, they did, the guy called me around 10:30 and told me he had it back up and he heard the modem start up. Fabulous, only down for 24 hours! Haha.
In the meantime, I've been supremely busy. We're in the midst of the move, and I needed a stove and refrigerator for the new house, because the ones that were in there were from 1983. Not kidding! They neither one of them were in any way working shape, so we went on a search and found some good deals, not new, because I flat can't afford that, but darned nice for used! Also found a 2 year old washer and dryer set, and we'll be picking up the rest of the tile after the weekend. Phew. See what I mean? Now if only I could find just one more book case, or maybe a matching pair, that would be fantastic, but things are going along well.
This is newsy, huh?
At any rate, I've mentioned I've got some posts I need to do, I had a lovely birthday/Christmas/surprise package from Tina, and I'm long overdue posting my goodies from Sasha (Nihrida's blog!), and I want to show you the goodies from Sephora. So that will be over the next few afternoons!
Oh! I am sure you guys know about the HUGE, 50% off sale for 5 hours on RBL polishes? OH. MY. GODS. There's no way, but I want one or two....I dunno. We'll see. I'm still debating. What are you guys getting?
Oh! I've got some emails backed up, I WILL GET TO THEM! But not until tomorrow. Thank you!

Orly Metal Chic: Iron Butterfly

This is the last of the trio of Metal Chic polishes by Orly; Iron Butterfly. I keep wanting to call it Iron Maiden. How bad am I? Hahaha. Anyway - the formula with these is the same as the other two, as is pigmentation, I used two coats. As you can see, my cleanup was abysmal. What's great about that is I didn't even realize it until I went to edit the pictures! Oopsie. So please, pardon my mess. As with the other two swatches, since all of these were done on the same day, so the lighting outside was poor.
I just want to say that of the three, which I loved, this is my favorite. I think this is an awesome little collection, and I'm so glad I snagged it.
All of these shots were taken outside in overcast light. My inside shots were horrid on this polish, so I've skipped them.

A last, blurry shot of the frosty bottle. But you can still see the streaks of silver in the black polish!

I thought I'd add a bit of "metal" to this post. Right? I mean, it's called Metal Chic. This is Corrosion of Conformity, whom I saw live at the Ritz, lo these many moons ago. Anyone from Raleigh remember the Ritz? Apparently it is now called the DISCO RODEO? I think when I read that it made my heart stop. Enough with the blathering!

Orly Metal Chic: Solid Gold

This is the second in a series of the three polishes; I've saved my personal favorite for last. I do love this color, I think it would work well as an alternative to all of the glossy, shimmery, glittery polishes we'll be seeing during the month of December, might be fun to throw this matte gold in to mix your manicures up just a little bit! If I were good at Konading, I bet this would make a pretty design or base for a holiday mani, too. At any rate, this is the same quick drying formula and coverage as the Glam Rock was; actually, same goes for all three polishes. I forgot to mention this, but I've been hearing rumours that adding a matte top coat may extend the life of your matte polish, I haven't tried this out yet - have any of you? What were your results?
So, same photographing circumstances, really a shame - very low outside natural light. At any rate, here you are:
First picture, taken inside under artificial light, no flash. Love how you can see the shimmer so well here.

Next two outside shots done with very low light, the best of the bunch that I took.

A last, frosted bottle shot.

Tiny note: DON'T PANIC.

Hahaha, I just had a Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy moment. Hilarious!
*coughs*
Anyway! As you all know - we've been over this, right? We've been working on our new house for a while. The time has come for us to move, and we've been having the tiniest bit of trouble - seems AT & T does not provide service to our new area.
What?
That's just weird, right? Isn't that Ma Bell? Aren't they EVERYWHERE?
Bah. So now, we have to switch service providers - and I've contacted AT & T and asked them to please, please leave my service on just a little longer, but I don't know if they will. My new service at the house is not scheduled to go on until the 15th.
I've made a few arrangements, best as I can, should it get shut down before time - I've got posts scheduled for every day, and I can still check my email by my cell phone, so if you need me, please feel free to email me. I will respond!
Also, I can get DMs on Twitter, if it's urgent! Haha. Well you get the idea!
I've got some packages and Christmas cards going out this week, I did send some out last week too.
The good news is I'll have my internet on a. By my next days off - and b. By my birthday, which is the very next day!
YAY. Happy birthday to me. I wonder what hubby has planned? He won't tell.
So you all take care, feel free to drop me a line! ♥
